Sir, May a husband and a wife each submit a separate entry?
Yes, a husband and a wife may each submit one entry if each meets the eligibility requirements. If either is selected, the other is entitled to derivative status.
Must I re-apply every year for the Green Card Lottery to be considered?
The law specifies there must be a separate application for each year's visa lottery. The fact that a person has registered for Visa Lotteries in the past has no effect on the next Visa Lottery. Each person who wishes to be included in next Lottery must submit a new application.
I received my DV Lottery winning notification through email. Can I continue with the selection?
No, it was sent to you from a scam person or company to cheat you. Or check it good whether it was sent by your agent.
Can I black and white photo to participate in the draw?
No, it is not allowed to use black and white photos while participating for the program. Only color images that meet their DV requirements are accepted and they should meet the mentioned requirements.
Where can I find the DS-260?
You can access the DS-260 from the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) website, by going to Immigrant Visas.state.gov and clicking on “Submit Visa Application and Civil Documents,” or on the website of the U.S. embassy or consulate where you will apply.Know More!
Is it necessry to have a passport to participate in the diversity visa draw?
Yes, you must have a valid International passport. The DV application form is requesting you to provide your passsport details in it. If you don't provide it the form is not completed and you can't submit it to the system.
I am not fluent in English language. Will this disqualify me at the interview?
No, it is not necessary for you to speak English fluently to get the entry permit through the DV program. But it is your duty to learn it as soon as possible as everyone in the USA speaks English and it is the official language of the U.S.A.
I got a mail saying that I am a winner. And they request me to pay their processing fee. Can I send them the money?
Don't send money. They are scam people trying to cheat you. Fees are paid only to the US Embassy on the day of your interview.
Can I put a immagenary passport number in the DV Application form and when I have the origibal passport, can I replace it?
No. you must provide your real passport. Otherwise you will not be assigned for an interview, if selected as a winner.
Can I use the last year photos for this year draw?
No, as per the instructions, each year you must make new photos to participate in the draw.
My new born baby is only one week old. Is it necessary to include the baby's detail in the application form?
Yes. You must include the new born baby's photo and its personal details.
What if the DV Lottery winner forgot to list his or her spouse?
Failure to list your spouse will result in disqualification of the principal applicant and refusal of all visas in the case at the time of the visa interview.
What if the DV Lottery winner is already registered in another visa category?
The DV Lottery winner can still apply for a visa based on winning the DV Lottery.
When I submitted the entry form there was no response. Can I resubmit one entry again?
Yes, you can submit the application form till you get the confirmation code in the screen.
I am a refugee. Can I attend the visa interview in Bhutan as I am living there temporarily?
Yes, if you meet all the requirements of the program, you can attend the visa interview there.
Does the American Government help with the housing for the immigrant visa holders who had obtained it under the dv program?
No. The American Government won't assist with the housing or lodging for the winners.
I was selected, what should I do next?
After you check and noticed that you were selected, you will receive directions/information what has to be done next. Print all the information and fill out all appropriate forms requested. Start your process ASAP.
Are virtual/Zoom interviews available for Immigrant Visa applicants?
No. Current regulations require all immigrant visa applicants to appear in person before a consular officer.
Will DV2021 selectees be scheduled for an interview prior to the end of the 2021 fiscal year? Will they be prioritized as the deadline draws nearer?
DV2021 selectees may only be interviewed in the 2021 fiscal year. Applicants should wait for a notification of interview appointment. U.S. Embassies and consulates will schedule appointments as resources and local conditions allow according to the resumption of visa services framework.
Can I answer DS260 online form in my native language?
No. All answers, except as specially provided, must be in English, using English characters only. Applications submitted in any language other than English may be rejected. Know More!
Are children's details required on the DS260 even if they are not applying for a visa?
You are required to enter the details of every child under the age of 21, including step-children from a marriage that was entered into while the child was under the age of 18. You are not required to enter the details of children who are U.S. citizens.
I am traveling with my entire family. Can I fill only one (primary applicant) DS260 form?
No. Each member attending an immigrant visa interview must have their own, separate DS-260. This includes children. Know More!
I have completed and submitted my DS260 form few days ago. Now, when will I receive document confirmation email?
After complition of your DS260, an email requesting for documents from KCC will be received in your primary email address after 4-10 weeks time. The duration might be more if your case number is higher.
Do each applicant accompanying principal applicant need to own a passport to complete DS260 form??
Yes. Each family members need to have a passport. Passport applies even to one month old child.
I have made an error on the DS-260, what should I do?
If you have made an error when completing the DS-260 you are required to correct the error and re-transmit it if the error concerns the Background and Security questions or passport number. Please contact us through our website as we will be required to unlock your case before you can amend the information. If the error is in the biographic details, you may notify the consular officer on the day of your interview and take no further action.
